Senator Mike Haridopolos Receives Florida Chamber’s Distinguished Advocate Award

Florida Chamber Board Member and Chair-Elect
Allan Bense awards Senate President-Designate
Mike Haridopolos with a Distinguished Advocate Award during the Board meeting in Orlando.
At the June Board of Directors meeting in Orlando, the Florida Chamber of Commerce presented Senator Mike Haridopolos with a Distinguished Advocate Award for his extraordinary leadership in promoting pro-business legislation. Senator Haridopolos is one of only 27 legislators recognized as Distinguished Advocates by the Florida Chamber for serving as champions for the business community during this year’s Legislative Session.
“As we lead Florida to a new economy, free enterprise champions like Senator Mike Haridopolos are leading the Florida Legislature in a decidedly pro-jobs direction,” said Mark Wilson, president and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
During the 2010 Legislative Session, Senator Haridopolos promoted free enterprise and by keeping entertainment industry jobs in Florida with tax incentives, fought for greater fairness in slip and fall lawsuits, championed key space-related issues, and helped streamline government with a bill that allows legislators to consider the costs and the return on investment of proposed legislation, just as the private sector does.

“It is an honor to be named a Distinguished Advocate by the Florida Chamber,” said Senator Haridopolos. “We are working hard to keep Florida competitive in the global marketplace. I will continue fighting to keep Florida a business-friendly state because that is how you create high-skill, high-wage jobs.”

Announced annually in the post-session publication, How They Voted, the Distinguished Advocates are recognized for more than voting “yes” or “no” on important legislation. These lawmakers fought tirelessly to protect the interests of the business community with pro-jobs legislation and, courageously, stood up against special interests.
