Steve Halverson is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Haskell Company, one of the nation’s largest integrated design-build organizations, with operations throughout the United States and Latin America and headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida.
Steve received his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. John’s University his Juris Doctorate degree from American University in Washington, D.C. and has completed executive business courses at Dartmouth University and Wharton.
Steve is co-author of two books, Federal Grant Law and Construction Law Update, as well as numerous articles in professional publications. He has spoken internationally on construction and environmental issues.
Steve is active in professional and civic organizations. He is past chairman of the Design Build Institute of America, and Chairman elect of the National Center for Construction Education and Research and is a director of the Construction Industry Roundtable. He is also a director of CSX Corporation and ACIG Insurance Company.
In terms of civic activities, Steve serves as a director or trustee for the United Way of Northeast Florida (where he chaired the 2002 campaign), the Jacksonville Symphony (immediate past chairman), and St. John’s University. He is a life trustee of the Council for Educational Change in Miami; past vice-chairman of Regis University; and chairman emeritus of the Lowell Whiteman School. Florida Governor Jeb Bush appointed Steve as a founding Trustee of the University of North Florida and member of the Florida Council of 100, where he served on the Executive Committee of each. Steve is a 2007 recipient of the Prime Osborn Distinguished Business Leaders Award and was elected to the First Coast Business Hall of Fame.
Steve lives with his wife, Diane, in Jacksonville, Florida. Their son, John lives in Colorado and daughter Anne attends the University of Chicago.
